Reading Binge

In order to keep my mind fully occupied at night, I've been on a reading binge the last few weeks. It began on October 2nd, when a "birthday" present ordered by my father last August finally arrived on my doorstep via postal mail: Elizabeth of York by Alison Weir and Edge of Eternity by Ken Follett.
Last August, Dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told him about the two books mentioned above. Both were delayed for shipment until October 2014, so the gift was actually a "pre-order."
Receiving the books was bittersweet as I'd forgotten all about them until they arrived in the mail. Now that Dad is gone, the books meant more to me. It's as if he is still communicating with me in a strange way.
I've since moved on to other books, naturally. What can I say? I'm a fast reader. I'm currently immersed in the Haunted Bookshop Mysteries.
I tend to read in the evening, while my days are spent going through my parents' big house. They have forty years worth of belongings stored in the house and garage, so it is rather a mammoth undertaking. I'm merely trying to weed out "junk" while cleaning the rest. I'm also constricted by physical limitations, so I take one day at a time. I'm happy to report I'm beginning to see progress.
Thanks for the books, Dad - wherever you may be.
