Fun Out of the Sun

I'm on another round of antibiotics to clear up an infection that formed in my surgery incision. Will this never end? I'm hoping this last bit will clear everything up so I can remove myself from the tenderfoot-dawdler club. I'm tired of taking it easy, sick of holding back for fear of having my innards spill out in front of me.
We are having a dastardly stretch of hot weather so I try to avoid going outside as much as possible these days. No need to add nausea and faintness to my already ridiculous and intolerable condition.
And as writing goes…this morning around two-thirty I spent about three hours rewriting a few scenes for Mind Sweeper. I'm bound and determined to finish that story, along with Collective Obsessions, before autumn. While Mind Sweeper is much shorter in length than Collective Obsessions, I'm trying to infuse fast-moving dialogue with a lot of personal history between the characters. It's not as easy as it sounds. As always, I seem to work best in the dead of the night or very early in the morning when all seems quiet around me.
Reading: I try to read in bed at night but I find myself drowsy in short order and unable to complete a single chapter in any of the books I'm attempting to finish. Perhaps I should take No-Doz before climbing into the sack? I don't think so. I'll just keep giving it a whirl.
And all the while Kiki keeps hogging my bed:
Television is somewhat of a non-entity as I tend to listen more than watch, usually the news on MSNBC. I also like to visit the Food Network channel once in awhile, and the Law & Order reruns are aplenty.
