WOW

WOW...that's all I can really say to aptly describe yesterday.

As if it wasn't exciting enough to receive a publishing contract for Passion Forsaken in October, I now have three additional contracts for successive sequels to the book. These include Quixotic Crossings, The Twain Shall Meet and Enthrallment. All books are part of the Collective Obsessions Saga.

Most of yesterday was spent editing, so I didn't check my e-mail inbox until nearly lunchtime. Lo and behold, there was a message from my publisher with an offer of three more contracts for the above mentioned sequels. I was in a daze for quite awhile, checking and rechecking the contracts to make sure they were real. Needless to say, I'm absolutely floored and excited beyond belief.

Perhaps my horoscope for yesterday was accurate after all:

Today is a terrific day in which you should find that things work very smoothly. You have a hardheaded approach that will help you get down to business and get things done. Make sure you're on solid ground before you take the next step upward. You have the ability to reach the summit of many mountains, so don't waste any time. Put on your boots and start climbing.

It's difficult to communicate the passion that often comes with writing, especially to family and friends. As I mentioned before, I've left several friends in my wake because they were upset by the time I spent writing. More than one of them told me I was wasting my time and that I needed to "get a life."

When I'm focused I don't much care what people think, so needless to say the friends I've made over the years have sort of disappeared into the woodwork. It's sad, but I wouldn't change anything.

It's as if the years of hard work and persistence are somehow validated with a contract. Odd, but true.

I'm thrilled to my toes and full of energy. However, I reiterate: publishing contracts do not guarantee success. There's still much work to do ahead.
