Voting Angst

Election time is upon us. I detest the candidate's television advertisements that zoom back and forth, each one criticizing and vilifying the other. It shows a lack of respect for the voters – assuming we are idiots and will believe all words that emanate from their mealy mouths – and it certainly exemplifies their poorly-placed priorities.
The advertisements turn me off, making me reluctant to vote at all. The only motivation for me this year was the hope of removing the dominance of Republicans in the United States Congress. If the majority of them get booted out, I will be happy and feel my vote was worth the time and effort.
