Happy Reads

I'm currently reading the wonderful book The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir. One of my favorite authors, Weir has taken the early years of Elizabeth I (up until she became Queen) and dramatized actual historical events into an engrossing read that has kept me riveted. It helps that I'm an avid fan of the Tudor age, so my lure to the book was natural.

I now have every one of Weir's books. My favorite remains Henry VIII: The King and His Court, although she has now writes effortlessly between the historical and factual dramatized accounts.

I'm looking forward to her next book about Katherine Swynford, Mistress of the Monarchy, and hear she will tour the United States to promote the publication in February 2009.

I wish I knew her tour schedule so I could make a point to attend one of her signings. Anyone know the details?

People who know me understand it takes a miracle to get me out of the house, but I would make the effort for Alison Weir.
