I finished The Rebels of Ireland by Edward Rutherfurd last week, much to my chagrin. I wanted the book to go on and on. I enjoy Rutherfurd's writing, and I admire his style.

Now I'm onto The Wild Irish by Robin Maxwell.

Wilbert and I watched Desperation a few weeks ago, which is the three-hour television film adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name. The first two hours were spellbinding, but I was less than impressed with the ending. I liked the book much more.

However, the performance of Ron Perlman (formerly the "beast" in the TV series Beauty & the Beast), as local cop Collie Entragian was astounding. The camera angles for most of his shots were very unflattering, but Perlman seemed to make the most of it. In essence, his character was rotting flesh before our eyes, and he managed to pull it off most convincingly.
